Synopsis

The 1957 Eurovision Song Contest was presented by Hessischer Rundfunk on behalf of Deutsches Fernsehen ARD. Austria, Denmark, and the United Kingdom participated for the first time, adding to the seven countries that had competed the previous year. Though television ownership was growing across Europe, the contest remained primarily a radio event at this point.
