Despite the limited number of color television sets in homes across France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, the 1968 contest was broadcast in vibrant color. Though a novelty at the time, color broadcasting had arrived, and subsequent song contests have largely been presented in full color.
