Synopsis

Japan has experienced increasingly frequent heavy snowfalls in recent years. Though the total winter snowfall has diminished over time, the intensity of individual snow events has grown. Climate change is implicated in this shift. Rising temperatures have increased the amount of water vapor in the Sea of Japan, and this moisture interacts with a weather pattern known as the JPCZ to produce intense snowstorms. We will explore the underlying processes driving these events and consider the potentia
