Synopsis

After the war, Beniamino and his family take refuge in an abandoned school in Italy. They are then told they must leave, forcing Beniamino to find a new home in a city with very little affordable housing. As they travel through Rome, they meet many people who offer different views on life after the war and the strength needed to rebuild. The story shows the challenges and triumphs of people trying to persevere through hard times, and how important family and community are when things change. Beniamino's strong desire to protect his family is evident in both tender moments and difficult situations. Their search for a new home amidst the city’s turmoil highlights that the most important thing is the connections people make with each other – what truly makes a place feel like home.
