Shukishi and Tomi, an elderly couple from a small coastal town, make a difficult trip to see their children in busy Tokyo. Their children, Koichi, a doctor, and Shige, a hairdresser, find it hard to make time for their parents. So, Noriko, a widow grieving the loss of Shukishi’s son in the war, takes on the task of accompanying them. She hopes to connect with her new family.
