I must admit, the movie turned out to be pretty good; I had initially doubted how they would handle the cabin’s backstory. There was a real potential for a compelling folk tale there, or at minimum, an exploration of themes reminiscent of what the hole represents. Still, it's worth investing the time to witness the unfolding events and their progression into something that fits comfortably within its genre.

It felt a lot like "Woman in the Dunes," only without quite as much desert scenery and incorporating themes of familial relationships that are unsettling.
