_Terrifier 2_ represents a significant step forward compared to the first movie, though it didn't fully win me over. The film’s tone and overall production quality are noticeably better right from the start. The script allows characters some development, letting viewers connect with them in a way that was missing entirely in the original. I appreciated the bits of background information about Art that were woven throughout; they add an extra layer to this emerging horror icon. Because of the writing, there's more opportunity for inventive kills and elaborate set pieces, and the story unfolds across an entire town instead of being confined to a single apartment building. However, despite all these improvements, some issues persisted from the first film. The acting was inconsistent; while some actresses gave truly impressive performances that were surprising given the movie’s independent nature, others weren't so good, and it felt like watching a high school play at times. I thought Lauren LaVera, Kailey Hyman, and Elliott Fullam all stood out. There are definite pacing issues too – the film runs almost two and a half hours, which is far too long. There’s just too much unnecessary material that slows down the movie's momentum. While it does a better job of building suspense, it relies too heavily on blood and gore to elicit reactions from the audience. I usually enjoy movies that push the boundaries with gore, but this one went too far; several scenes made me feel physically sick because of how graphic they were.
