The character Patience Philips, portrayed by Halle Berry, is an artist who seems quite timid and gets caught up in a plot involving her cosmetics company’s intention to release a distinctive anti-aging product. Fortunately, she meets Frances Conroy as Ophelia, and subsequently gains remarkable abilities—a kind of ninja-like agility, strength, and flexibility reminiscent of a cat. The narrative itself isn't particularly compelling; Sharon Stone plays Laurel, the antagonist behind the scheme, and Hollywood’s infatuation with Benjamin Bratt as Tom Lone was very apparent throughout this endeavor, which feels like an intentionally artificial comic book adaptation filled with precisely staged but ultimately lifeless action scenes. Halle looks wonderful, graceful and toned, and I suspect she knew it was meant to be humorous; because that's exactly what it is.
