Southpaw isn’t particularly noteworthy among films centered on boxing, but the storyline—a person with legal troubles achieving success due to his wife and daughter, and others who become important to him and inspire him to fight—did manage to evoke some emotion. However, as someone who enjoys boxing both as a spectator and participant, I didn’t find the fight scenes convincing; they felt somewhat unrealistic.
