It’s genuinely surprising to see Eddie Murphy delivering some laughs again—the kind of comedy reminiscent of his work in the 1980s. He seemed to be operating at peak performance. The film creates a sense of longing for what he used to bring; the Eddie we know now isn't quite the same as his earlier successes. However, setting aside Murphy’s comedic revival, there’s also a really enjoyable and somewhat morbid humor that complements the story’s generally positive and emotionally resonant message.
