I’m really on the fence about this film. Initially, I went into it assuming it would be centered around Elton John... and yes, it does involve him… sort of… but it turned out to be significantly more fantastical and fictional than a straightforward biographical account. If I had realized that upfront, I possibly wouldn't have even given it a viewing; perhaps I would’ve prepared myself for something less grounded, more like a series of dreamlike images rather than a traditional film. It didn't deliver what I was looking for, and that definitely impacted my enjoyment. My expectation was to see a movie focused on Elton John—ideally, a tribute to his life and music. Especially considering how I feel *Bohemian Rhapsody* didn’t quite do justice to Freddy Mercury and his story. Instead, I received something considerably more surreal than anticipated. I suppose if you appreciate its unique visual style, the film might appeal to you... it's still about Elton John, so a fantastic soundtrack is practically guaranteed. However, to my perspective, it felt more like an extended music video than a movie. And given how fascinating Elton John is—particularly considering his sustained relevance in music for roughly five decades—they could have created something more authentic, I think. I'm unsure what else to say. Ultimately, I’m awarding this one star simply because my hope was for a different kind of film experience.
