The film’s appearance is remarkable; however, it feels hollow. It seems like all of the filmmakers' energy was devoted to creating an unsettling atmosphere instead of actually generating suspense. The feeling of unease isn't even mildly interesting, much less frightening, and the characters are disappointing while the plot itself is unremarkable. I suspect people familiar with the video games might find something worthwhile here, but as a movie, it’s just not enjoyable.
