The film’s overt sincerity and folksy charm are so heavy-handed that they create an awkward, manufactured feel, constantly reminding you that what you’re seeing isn’t genuine. It’s painfully sentimental. I didn’t find it effective, though clearly many viewers don't mind being overcome with sentimentality.
