Synopsis

In post-war Europe, scientist Etienne Alexis seeks the presidency with radical ideas for social change. He proposes using artificial insemination to not only treat illness but also to remove emotion from relationships. To demonstrate his vision of order, Alexis plans a controlled picnic celebrating his engagement to his cousin. But fate intervenes when a shepherd's flute summons a strong wind, disrupting the event and leading Alexis to Nénette, a spirited farm girl who desires both love and family. Disgusted by the emotional emptiness of other men, Nénette challenges Alexis’s clinical view of relationships. Their connection forces Alexis to reconsider his ambitions and question the nature of human connection. Together, they begin an unexpected journey exploring love, passion, and what it means to be human.
