The film isn’t terrible, though it feels disconnected from the previous installments. It veered into an entirely distinct kind of story. The conclusion seemed awkwardly shoehorned in so that it could tie up with what came before.

This one is better than the fourth, though it remains quite distant from the quality of the initial film. “The Marked Ones” seems to work because its aim is simply to be a direct horror movie, without trying to be anything more than scary.
