It’s likely the finest film of 2002, even though few people encountered it. This is an intense and authentic portrayal of undercover policing, leaving a sense of cynicism about the kinds of situations these officers face. Jason Patric and Ray Liotta portray two Detroit police officers seeking retribution for the death of another officer working in secret. The film *Narc* is bleak, visceral, and intensely absorbing; it doesn’t gloss over the realities of law enforcement but manages to maintain a sense of authenticity without alienating viewers from the officers who frequently push boundaries while stopping just short of crossing them. This is exceptional drama featuring believable conversations and superb performances that elevate this film within its genre. I am certain you won't know the perpetrator’s identity until the final moments. It isn’t appropriate for a romantic evening out or family viewing, but it would be ideal for an afternoon watch with friends.
