The Grand Canyon in Arizona is a vast natural wonder, covering 2,000 square miles, a mile deep, and ten miles wide. It's a place that deeply moves people. Beyond its breathtaking views, the canyon is home to many animals, including mule deer, mountain lions, coyotes, bighorn sheep, wild turkeys, blue herons, and desert tortoises, as well as the unique Kaibab squirrel. Over 2,000 years ago, the Anasazi Indians lived in this area, and the program features a look at Shaman's Gallery, where many of their rock paintings have been preserved. Theodore Roosevelt established the Grand Canyon as a national park in 1908, urging that its beauty be protected for future generations.
