Synopsis

For thirteen years, young women aged 18 to 20 have been vanishing without a trace in Mödling, a town near Vienna. Fear and distrust grip the community, with residents criticizing the police's handling of the disappearances. Nineteen-year-old Jeanny, a schoolgirl, meets Johannes, a charming but enigmatic tax consultant whose initial interest feels unsettling. However, Johannes sees beyond Jeanny’s apparent innocence, offering her support and validation as she mourns the loss of her father. He helps her succeed in her final exams and rebuild her confidence, fostering a secret, growing affection between them. As Jeanny becomes more involved with Johannes, the town's tense atmosphere intensifies, leading to the formation of a militia. Increasingly uncertain, Jeanny must question whether she can truly trust him.
