Swift Wind, a young chief, is in love with Dancing Fawn. While exploring together, they encounter white wolves, creatures both feared and respected by their people, and return to the village. The chief promises their marriage, but Red Nose, the medicine man, claims Dancing Fawn for himself. The chief hesitates, wary of Red Nose's magic. Dancing Fawn flees to Swift Wind. An old trapper teaches Swift Wind a secret: a trap baited with an animal’s own hair is guaranteed to work. Swift Wind plans to defeat his rival. Dancing Fawn cuts a lock of Red Nose’s hair, which Swift Wind uses to set the trap. The next day, a wolf is caught, but as the villagers approach, the wolf transforms into Red Nose. Swift Wind's love has prevailed, and he and Dancing Fawn are united.
