Synopsis

Autumn 1996. Professor Avner and his wife Ilana visit the family farm of Rachel and Shouki (Avner's children from a previous marriage), along with Menahem, his deceased first wife’s brother. Avner is unwell and needs medical attention. Rachel calls upon Joel, a family friend and physician. Joel and Ilana share a secret relationship that began on a prior visit. Menahem is in love with Ilana, while Rachel is drawn to Joel, unaware of Ilana and Joel's affair. Avner has come with a proposal to sell the farm, which unleashes underlying tensions within the family. Inspired by Chekhov’s "Uncle Vanya," this Israeli story explores the weariness, frustrations, and pain experienced by many Israelis, alongside their connection to the land and each other, and their hopes for the future.
