Synopsis

In July 1938, the Communist Party of China assigned Xiao Hua to lead an eastward advance column, tasked with establishing a base in the strategically important Hebei-Shandong border region. Leveraging the area's resources and transportation, Xiao Hua skillfully unified the army and recruited local armed forces. He led a raid on the Japanese stronghold of Denming Temple. With the support of the Kuomintang county magistrate Mou Yizhi, who joined the Eighth Route Army, they secured a strong position. Facing Japanese and puppet troops, Xiao Hua launched a surprise attack on Denming Temple, joining forces with General Gao Shuxun. Ultimately, Xiao Hua captured Denming Temple, establishing the vital Hebei-Shandong border anti-Japanese base area.
