Synopsis

During the 1970s Cold War, an American patrol boat encounters a Soviet ship for discussions about fishing rights in the Atlantic. While negotiations are underway on the U.S. Coast Guard vessel, a Lithuanian sailor leaps between the two ships. He lands on the American deck and pleads for asylum. Despite their efforts, the Americans cannot offer protection, and the Soviets capture him, returning him to their ship. This extraordinary story unfolds, detailing his imprisonment, eventual discovery, rise to fame, and fight for freedom.
