Synopsis

In a house nestled in a rice field in Asia, a group of children dressed as soldiers begin playing war. They form opposing armies, using toys, laser weapons, machine guns, and toy helicopters to reenact battles. As the game unfolds, their play increasingly mirrors scenes from war on television, including negotiations and depictions of death. Ultimately, the children emerge from the house and lay their weapons at its base. The youngest child sets the pile ablaze with a burning stick, and all the children walk away as the weapons burn. Across more than twenty countries, children are actively involved in war. Deprived of childhood and often exposed to extreme violence, an estimated 200,000 to 300,000 children are soldiers for both rebel and government forces in ongoing conflicts. Dangerous Games is a work of fiction.
