Synopsis

Joseph Wambaugh's debut novel, "The New Centurions," a realistic portrayal of police life written while he was still on the Los Angeles Police Department, became a national bestseller in 1971. The book shifted crime fiction by depicting flawed, psychologically complex characters instead of traditional heroes. Richard Fleischer's film adaptation of Wambaugh's novel, also titled "The New Centurions," followed a year later and significantly impacted crime movies. "Cop Stories: The Making of Richard Fleischer's The New Centurions" documents the making of this influential film, featuring interviews with Wambaugh, star Stacy Keach, technical advisor Richard E.
