Synopsis

Using archival footage and insights from more than 40 colleagues, friends, and fans, BLOOD & FLESH is more than just the story of an unconventional filmmaker. It vividly portrays the unique communities of independent filmmakers in California during the 1970s, and how they connected with Hollywood and union productions. On Adamson's sets, familiar names from the Orson Welles crew, including cinematographers Gary Graver, Vilmos Szigmond, and Lazlo Kovaks, worked alongside Bud Cardos – and even Charles Manson at one point! Director David Gregory spent years crafting this film, speaking with everyone from the police who investigated Adamson's murder to those who knew him, capturing both a remarkable life and a tragic end, filled with eccentric characters like alien conspiracy theorists, go-go dancers, and Colonel Sanders. Anyone with an interest in cinema should see it.
