The movie SEQUIN IN A BLUE ROOM (2019) feels distant and detached, mirroring the personality of its central figure, and struggles to hold attention for much of its running time. While the visuals and musical accompaniment are highlights, the protagonist makes it difficult to become invested in the story or want to experience that world again.

It's commendable that 'Sequin in a Blue Room' addresses a queer Australian narrative and aims to spark discussion about the frequently damaging nature of casual encounters within the gay community; however, it doesn’t quite manage to deliver on its potential.
