Synopsis

Mischa Barton stars in this Showtime family film, directed by JoBeth Williams, produced by Barbra Streisand’s Barwood Films. Barton plays Frankie, and Ingrid Culibras is Hazel, Frankie's neighbor and best friend. Frankie is an orphan living with her demanding grandmother, Phoebe (Joan Plowright), while Hazel lives with her father and brother. Frankie's parents, a ballerina and musician, died in a car accident when she was young, and she's dedicated herself to dance. Despite being the best dancer in her class, Frankie prefers baseball, while Hazel is a local activist aiming for the mayor's office. The film follows Hazel’s unlikely campaign against the current mayor, but Frankie’s aspirations are more relatable. Both actresses deliver sympathetic and believable performances, making it difficult not to be invested in their success.
