Synopsis

WrestleMania 23, the twenty-third annual pay-per-view event, was held on April 1, 2007, at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. The show featured wrestlers from Raw, SmackDown!, and ECW. The main event on Raw was John Cena against Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship. The main SmackDown! match was Batista versus The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship. The main ECW match was an Eight Man Tag Team team competition between The ECW Originals and The New Breed. Other notable matches included Bobby Lashley versus Umaga and an interpromotional Money in the Bank ladder match. WrestleMania 23 broke Ford Field's attendance record with 80,103 people. Ticket sales generated $5.38 million, surpassing the previous WrestleMania X8 record of $3.9 million. With approximately 1.25 million buys, it remains the highest WWE pay-per-view buyrate in history.
