Synopsis

In 1990, the regime change arrives in the small village of Borsod, where unemployment breeds apathy and heavy drinking. Csornai, the former powerful figure, seeks to regain influence by running for mayor. Meanwhile, Polyak, a disillusioned lathe operator in his mid-forties, lives with his mother and harbors a secret: he stole his father’s lathe from the now-closed factory, a machine his father had painstakingly built over decades. The arrival of an American tourist with a metal detector sparks interest as he searches the area near where his father's plane crashed at the war's end, hoping to find it. The village erupts with excitement, and an investigation begins. They discover the American graves, but not everything is accounted for. Csornai seizes the opportunity and launches his own investigation, leading to an unexpected development that threatens to unravel everything.
