Synopsis

Blow Debris hints at a story but prioritizes a drifting, almost aimless experience. The work depicts a passage or journey as we follow a group of nude wanderers across a desert landscape. Like Electric Earth, potential postmodern emptiness transforms into a celebration of drifting. Aitken rejects romantic longing for an untouched past and its landscapes, instead focusing on the narratives suggested by the discarded remnants scattered across the Mojave Desert. He also emphasizes the feeling of the desert itself. Even within the gallery's cool, dark spaces housing the large projections, you feel the characters' weariness, and time seems to slow. Then, events become chaotic, time reverses, compelling you to continue exploring, moving from disorientation to new locations and back again.
