Synopsis

For twenty years, Éva Janikovszky has penned beloved children's monologues. Her stories often center on the challenges faced by young boys as they navigate specific ages. This framework connects the monologues "If I Were an Adult," "Something Always Happens to Me," and the twin books "Be Glad You're a Boy" and "Be Glad You're a Girl" to the central story. The protagonist seeks escape from a life governed by rules, first into the imagined world of adulthood, then struggling with the demands of school.
