Synopsis

This DVD release continues the series from Oscar-winning director Murray Lerner's 1970 Isle Of Wight Festival film, featuring Emerson Lake & Palmer’s pivotal performance, "The Birth Of A Band." This was ELP's first major live concert, following only a warm-up show. Performing before a record crowd of 600,000 people at rock's largest festival, they instantly became stars. Their spectacular stage show, complete with cannons, earned rave reviews for their skill and boldness. Interspersed with the original live footage are new interviews with Keith Emerson, Greg Lake, Carl Palmer, and their manager John Gaydon, offering a detailed look at the band’s beginnings. Before achieving multi-million selling status, this film captures ELP at the very start of their journey.
