Synopsis

This Japanese coming-of-age story begins after 17-year-old Sataka experiences a breakup. When her mother is hospitalized with a serious stomach ulcer, Sataka finds herself alone with her emotionally distant father. While searching for something to do, she discovers a love letter written to her mother decades ago. She sets out to find the letter's author, Shinichiro (Hiroyuki Sanada), a man who has been estranged from his wife and now spends his time at pachinko parlors. Sataka persistently encourages Shinichiro to change, and he eventually agrees to help her reconnect with her mother. As they spend time together, a friendship blossoms, with Sataka guiding him towards a healthier lifestyle and a new wardrobe. However, once Shinichiro's transformation is complete, he unexpectedly shifts the dynamic. The story culminates in a meeting between Shinichiro and Sataka's mother, marking a turning point for all of them.
