Filmed at KQED TV studios in April 1967, just weeks before Big Brother & The Holding Company gained international recognition for their Monterey Pop Festival performance in June 1967—which included Janis Joplin's memorable rendition of 'Ball And Chain', captured in D.A. Pennebaker's acclaimed film—this DVD offers a glimpse of Janis Joplin at the height of her powers, before the challenges of fame and drug use. These KQED TV recordings are now available on DVD for the first time. The songs are interspersed with short interviews featuring Janis and the band, all presented in excellent sound and picture quality for their time. Besides 'Ball And Chain', which was later included on their second album, the set features two of the band's singles, 'Down On Me' and 'Coo Coo'. A bonus audio CD of the tracks is also included.
