Synopsis

On a secluded island, a saint is on the verge of being officially recognized by the church. His icon is notably faceless. Local legend tells of a night when the saint left the icon and shocked the islanders at the annual fair, afterward disappearing in shame. Following a weekend of turmoil, a writer uncovers the truth: the icon wasn't painted by a saint's likeness, but commissioned from a painter whose scandalous life was mistakenly attributed to the saint. The islanders then began altering the icon themselves, filling in the details with their own actions. In pursuit of the truth, the writer dies under mysterious circumstances. His body is later discovered bearing signs of abuse. A reporter arrives to investigate, but finds herself confronting a tight-lipped community unwilling to share its secrets.
