Synopsis

Valdas Navasaitis's debut film depicts the bleak 1970s, a time when people felt disconnected from their past and watched their lives fade away. In a decaying house once owned by a wealthy family, several families find refuge. Senis, a 65-year-old alcoholic who survived the Nazis and communist prisons, lives there with his wife and 16-year-old daughter. He numbs his memories with alcohol and conversations with Lorenca, a disheartened young worker. A young couple and a reclusive man with only his cat for company later join them. The children pass the time with aimless games or observing the adults. When Lorenca commits suicide at a nearby factory, the community is deeply affected. During a dinner held to honor her, they share a glimmer of shared hope.
