Synopsis

This film unveils the true story of the Gunpowder Plot, using the actual words of Thomas Wintour, the plot's highest-ranking captured leader, as well as Guy Fawkes and their interrogators. The movie details the 18-month conspiracy by a group of militant Catholic men to destroy King and Parliament. Wintour recounts the epic tale of faith, fanaticism, persecution, and betrayal, from recruiting Fawkes and his brother to his own capture during a siege on November 8th. The film explores their plans for a rebellion in the Midlands, a royal kidnapping, and how they infiltrated the king's security, including Fawkes attending a wedding with the king in December 1604. It also dramatizes the forgotten story of the conspirators' desperate flight after November 5th and the harsh punishments they faced as traitors.
