Synopsis

This single-channel video features American artist Andrea Fraser as she explores the Guggenheim Bilbao while listening to the museum's audio guide. The video begins with an exterior shot of the entrance, then shows Fraser in a short green dress and heels picking up the audio guide inside. As she begins listening, the soundtrack shifts to include the same male voice as the artist, without any other sounds. Captured by five hidden cameras – one following Fraser and four others moving throughout the atrium – *Little Frank and His Carp* presents Fraser from different perspectives as she initially follows the audio guide's directions. Her expressions visibly change as she listens. Told that modern art is "demanding, complicated, bewildering," she appears anxious, but when the guide states "the museum tries to make you feel at home," she immediately seems reassured and happy.
