Synopsis

In the late 1970s, Petra Grust takes a teaching position at the Odenwald School and is impressed by the confidence shown to her by headmaster Simon Pistorius. However, unsettling events begin to occur at the boarding school, leading Petra to discover that Pistorius is abusing a 13-year-old boy named Frank. After being ordered to spend the holidays with Pistorius, Frank attempts suicide. Petra reports this to Frank's father, the school's chairman, but he sides with Pistorius instead of his own son. Petra struggles to convince anyone of Pistorius’s true nature. Thirty years later, Frank contacts Petra, who has left teaching. Haunted by his past, and spurred by the recent suicide of another student, he asks Petra to testify at the school's upcoming anniversary.
