Synopsis

Roni Beck dreams of being a professional comedian, but his lack of success forces him to live in his mother's apartment within an old people's home, always holding onto the hope of a breakthrough. The home's director, Serge Grätzer, discovers Roni and puts him to work. Serge then intervenes in Roni's career, using embezzled funds to try and launch him. However, Roni continues to struggle for success. Ultimately, Serge chooses to pursue his own ambition of taking the stage, causing a rift between the two men. They reconcile, but never perform together again. When Serge's embezzlement is exposed, he flees from the police, and the home is forced to close. In the end, Roni convinces Mr. Klein, an eccentric investor, to save the home with his hidden fortune.
