Synopsis

In a dwindling Corsican mountain village, Mayor Ange initiates a drama workshop to revitalize the community. The villagers are rehearsing a play for an upcoming contract signing with a cabinet minister. However, on the day the minister is due to arrive, Ange unexpectedly dies, angering his wife Lellè. The contract must still be signed, presenting a challenge given Ange's complex family: Rinatu, his nationalist son; Sauveur, a former policeman now in politics; Marcia, Rinatu's daughter, determined to ensure the play goes on; and Ange’s two wives, the official Lellè and the unofficial Indian domestic worker. Adding to the complications is Pantaleone, the deputy mayor, whose wife was one of Ange's many mistresses.
