Synopsis

Satan in the Suburbs recounts the disturbing story of a brutal ritualistic murder that occurred in the seemingly idyllic town of Northport, Long Island, during the summer of 1984. The crime was linked to a local teenage Satanic cult. Even more unsettling than the murder itself was the discovery of a widespread silence among the town's youth, many of whom knew about the killing in the weeks leading up to an anonymous phone call that alerted the police. Seventeen-year-old Ricky Kasso was arrested and confessed to the crime; he died by suicide in jail five days later. Kasso’s friend Jimmy Troiano also confessed but was later acquitted after it was revealed he had been beaten by local police. The murder shocked the community and gained national attention, with some people wrongly blaming rock music for the tragedy.
