Synopsis

Sarah, a debt collector in the village of Guimbal on Panay Island, journeys to Negros Island in search of a young man who appeared to her in a dream. As she interacts with the island's people, Sarah’s search evolves into a gathering of memories: tales of life and war, dreams, myths, legends, songs, and stories that often center on herself. She is revealed to be the daughter of an ancient mermaid, a revolutionary, a primal force, and a woman hidden from the sun. The film recounts fragments of the American occupation. Dialogue in Hiligaynon is presented without translation, serving as a guide to tone and narrative.
