It earns my approval largely because of Wayne’s obvious and heartfelt national pride, something I appreciate even as a Canadian. While it seems clear that he wasn't ideally suited for the role, he does manage to project a certain grumpy appeal—and his effort is undeniable. It’s simply not possible for me to find fault with this movie.
