Synopsis

Desperate to fit in, sixteen-year-old Henry Primo throws a birthday party, inviting everyone, including the troubled Jim Kizay. Kizay drugs Henry, and the next morning, Henry awakens to find seven classmates dead, with Henry as the main suspect. Authorities quickly condemn him and confine him to a mental institution for fifteen years. His parents secure his release and bring him home to a specially built cell. They yearn for their son, the boy they lost. But Henry is profoundly changed. He’s withdrawn, communicating only through writing. Seemingly harmless, he has developed extraordinary abilities during his isolation: heightened ESP and mental telepathy, perfect recall of everything he experiences, and the unsettling ability to read minds – while remaining completely inscrutable himself.
