Synopsis

The film explores the experiences of various people involved in a repeated encounter: a young woman repeatedly asked to prove her identity while making a purchase at a convenience store. Though the core scene repeats, each person's story and the resulting consequences are surprisingly different. The central character struggles because her country doesn't offer a valid identity document after she transitioned. This situation mirrored that of the film’s lead actress, Ha Ri-su, South Korea's most famous trans woman, though the plot itself is not based on her life. Following the film’s release, Ha Ri-su became the first in her country to gain proper legal recognition and documents through a significant court ruling. Many other countries continue to create similar obstacles for transgender women.
