Synopsis

"A Letter from Hiroshima" is a film about apology and remembrance. Suwa contacts Kim Ho-jung, a Korean actress he previously collaborated with, asking for her help in writing and directing a movie about Hiroshima. Ho-jung arrives in the city and is instructed to explore while waiting for Suwa. At first puzzled, she becomes captivated by Hiroshima, spending days learning about the bombing's history and its lasting impact. Using minimal dialogue and a small cast, Suwa employs black and white imagery of Hiroshima to illustrate the tragedy's scale. A powerful moment features a mother's voice expressing regret for scolding her daughter on the day of the bombing. The film concludes with Ho-jung weeping in her hotel room, ignoring an incoming call.
