Synopsis

In 2012, Devon Hendryx, now known as rapper JPEGMAFIA, threatened suicide unless his music gained recognition. He responded by creating THE GHOST~POP TAPE, a project reflecting his evolving feelings about his work. Recorded in 2012 and released in 2013 during a period of intense depression while in Japan, THE GHOST~POP TAPE was accompanied by a DVD film. The DVD contained footage of public urination, vomiting, anime clips, nudity, and explicit sex scenes, alongside scenes of people bathing and riding roller coasters. While the DVD has been shared online, original physical copies are very rare; the existence of the DVD is primarily documented by a scan of the cover art, suggesting it may never have been produced. A movie download was available at ghostpop.jp, bundled with a free album download.
