Synopsis

In 1939, Britain sent the Expeditionary Force to Europe to stop Germany's advance on France. The force's retreat from Dunkirk left the Royal Air Force to defend against the German air offensive, delaying invasion plans. As World War II progressed, British General Montgomery won the Battle of El Alamein in North Africa, halting German advances. Meanwhile, Hitler’s invasion of Russia ended in a devastating defeat at Stalingrad, allowing Russia to advance westward. In the Pacific, Japan expanded its territory following the attack on Pearl Harbor, but was ultimately defeated at Midway by the United States. In Europe, the RAF bombed German cities as preparations for the D-Day invasion of Normandy were made. By April 1945, Europe was liberated. These pivotal moments are depicted using historical film and detailed contemporary records.
