I’ve never really cared for Jeff Chandler, and unfortunately, his presence here doesn't elevate this rather standard wartime story much at all. I watched this movie for the first time more than 40 years ago and thought it was pretty good. It’s funny, I didn't know at the time that I would eventually become a military truck driver myself—and thankfully, things were much better run in my experience compared to what's depicted on screen. The people portrayed faced some really difficult circumstances back then, and their stories deserve to be recalled.
